If you are anything like me, you have been looking for new ways to elevate your Christmas tree this year. I have been gushing over moody textured ornaments that can really match my aesthetic. As you can see I chose to paint some ornaments and others I kept clear and stuffed them with textured rope.
Because this DIY is so organic, the instructions are very loose. This is one of those projects you just have to keep playing around with, but trust me you can’t mess this up. The key is selecting the right color combos. For those in need of a visual…. check out my TikTok.

Shopping List:

- Clear plastic ornaments: I used both the 3inch and 4 inch – Available at Target
- Acrylic Paints: I incorporated chocolates, nudes and golds into my theme this year
- Baking soda ( for texture) – Available at Target
- Brushes
- Metallic paint (for details)
- Textured rope
How To:
- Choose a base color to paint the ornaments. Let it dry and repeat with however many you want of that color. It will take 2 coats to completely cover the ornament.
- Sprinkle on baking soda. Just enough to coat the balls then let dry.
- Once completely dry, use your brush and dust the excess baking soda off.
- Add metallic paint with a brush in desired areas. No two ornaments will look the same and I love that.
- Let them dry and you are ALL SET to spread the holiday vibes.
For the clear ornaments, I added thick textured rope to some and metallic paint to the base of others.

That’s it! It’s so easy and fun playing around with the different combinations. And remember…it will look worse before it looks better! I can’t wait to get my tree set up and decorated with these beauties!
