Let’s set the scene: I’m standing in front of my closet circa 2021—row after row of black leggings, and black tanks, maybe the occasional grey, if I was feeling wild. As a cycling instructor and former student-athlete, I’ve basically lived in activewear for the majority of my life. But one day, I literally just decided that I live a bright and vibrant life and my attire should be an extension of that!

Enter: a bright red set from Athleta. I wore it to class and the vibe shift was real. I felt powerful, radiant, and honestly kinda like contestants on Love Island when they say the “Bombshell had entered the Villa”. People also noticed and I feel like the compliments were flying. It wasn’t just about how I looked, but how I felt. Brighter colors made me feel bolder, more fun, and totally in alignment with the energy I bring into every class.

Now, my activewear drawer is a dopamine rainbow. Think bright purple sets from lululemon, hot pinks, cobalt blues and everything in between. And here’s the kicker: the color on the outside started to match the fire I’ve always had on the inside.
Bright sets aren’t just cute, they’re confidence armor. Whether I’m leading a class at Cyclebar or heading into my fav Equinox in Bethesda to lift, I now treat my outfit like a mood booster. When you look good, you feel good and I believe that is so true.
So here’s my encouragement to you: if you’ve been playing it safe with black-on-black or your “comfort color”, try something bold. I have never looked back on that decision to start dressing more vibrantly. Because in the world of fitness (and in life) sometimes the brightest thing in the room should be you.
P.S. Some of my fav brands include the following: lululemon, Athleta, Buff Bunny, Vuori (this is more athleisure forward), LiCi Fit
