BITES & FLIGHTS

Sharing with you MOCO restaurants with some of my favorite seafood bites that you can eat with a hand… or two.

Hello Betty

A rooftop spot in MOCO? Basically unheard of! But Hello Betty is on the third floor of The Canopy Hotel in North Bethesda with indoor and outdoor seating. If you love seafood, good drinks, a fun/laid-back vibe, and views of the city, you’ll love Hello Betty. And with a daily happy hour from 3pm to 6pm, you can even unwind there on the weekends.

They have several seafood options you can munch on, like their Chesapeake roll and crabby deviled eggs (including caviar). Sit at the outdoor bar that is a boat to make you feel like you’re at sea catching fresh seafood. If you like to go off the menu, ask for their orange creamsicle frozen drink that has a special secret ingredient. Imagine a spiked orange creamsicle as a beverage. I promise you won’t regret it.

Little Miner Taco

When I first heard of Little Miner Taco back in 2019, there was so much buzz around their Birria tacos, and rightfully so. Located in The Block Food Hall with handheld bite specials like their lobster quesadillas. For some extra flavor, order consommé on the side and dip the lobster quesadillas in it. Game changer!

Luke’s Lobster

Seafood the Maine way! Located in the heart of Bethesda, Luke’s Lobster serves up mouth-watering seafood even in the smallest bites. If you’re unsure which seafood roll you want to commit to, sample the Luke’s Trio – a seafood sampler that includes a 2oz lobster roll, 2oz crab roll, and 2 oz shrimp roll. These delicious rolls are accompanied by toasted buttered buns, mayo, lemon butter, and Luke’s Secret Seasoning.

Matchbox

This Black-owned chain has multiple locations in MOCO. Though Matchbox is known for its wood-fired pizza, they also have some other really good food options. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a crab cake sandwich, so if you’re in the mood for one, try their perfect handheld bite in the form of a crab cake sandwich.

Fish Taco

Who doesn’t love tacos… especially on Tuesday! Fish Taco has multiple locations in MOCO, including Bethesda Row and Wildwood Shopping Center. Their Margarita Monday offers $7 margaritas all day and their Taco Tuesday deal is 4 street tacos for $14. There are a ton of taco options, including chicken, signature fish, and ancho shrimp. I especially loved the chicken taco, which was incredibly flavorful and had a tasty sauce.

Here are 5 spots in Montgomery County. All locations I mentioned are at Pike & Rose (my favorite area in MoCo) and Bethesda Row. Little Miner Taco, Matchbox, and Fish Taco have multiple locations in Montgomery County/the DMV area. I’ve been to Hello Betty twice. The staff there are really fun, I’ve enjoyed the food, and the outdoor bar that is the shape of a boat is really cute. The atmosphere on the rooftop is also really nice and relaxing. That orange creamsicle drink is so good, but drink it slowly because the secret ingredient in it will put you down 🤪. I’ve also been to Little Miner Taco before, but that was years ago at their Brentwood location. Their Lobster quesadilla is a summer special, I believe. It had nice chunks of lobster and the flavor was pretty good. I just really love consommé, so I ordered some to pair with my quesadilla. This was my first time visiting Luke’s Lobster and I love that they have the Luke’s Trio. They’re little bite size pieces of delicious seafood. After trying it, I eneded up getting a crab roll to go because that’s the one I loved most out of the three. I’ve been to Matchbox more times than I’d like to admit, but I really like their food options and feel like it’s always a safe choice to get good food at. It’s nice to see how they’ve grown over the years with what feels like a million locations in the DMV lol. Fish Taco is all around good. They’re like a fast food Mexican spot, but a lot of people sit and eat there. And the fact that they have Margaritas is amazing because Chipotle would never! Their chicken taco is soooo flavorful, I love it. #MoCoFood #MoCoFoodie #PikeAndRose #BethesdaRow #DMVFoodie
