It’s summertime and burgers are a staple summer dish. Making the perfect burger can be hard—but I was happy to find that Shirlington has the best options!
STOP #1: BIG BUNS, DAMN GOOD BURGER:
Big Buns Damn Good Burger’s name speaks for itself! They literally have a burger on the menu for whatever mood you are in. I love anything spicy so I ordered the “ HOT and HEFE”. It was loaded with heat so I highly recommend it. What really makes this space cool is they have some of the most unique burger options. Anything you can think of on a burger, they can do it and do it well Who eats a burger without a milkshake? Be sure to add one to your order—I recommend the cookie dough!
STOP #2: BUSBOYS & POETS
It’s hard to get your hands on a really good turkey burger and Busboys & Poets has mastered it! I order it every time along with a side of sweet potato fries. This place is not just a restaurant but also a really cool book store featuring a lot of local writers. If you are in the mood for a little spoken word and a good bite to eat, check them out!
STOP #3: CARLYLE
Burgers always make me think of summer, especially when they are fresh off the grill. Carlyle really knows how to give you the fresh off the grill flavor just like at the summertime cookout. The flavor is so perfect you can’t go wrong with just ordering the cheeseburger. What I love about Carlyle is they make the perfect french fries to pair—who doesn’t love a string fry?
