A Seafood Boil at Hello Betty

Hello, Betty! Named for Betty’s: empowered and self-sufficient women who are unapologetic and dedicated to their craft—this spot offers a regional and seafood-forward menu with board culture flare.

Each month this seafood-centric restaurant features a low-country boil with shrimp, andouille, red potatoes, sweet corn, champignons, and onions. In contrast to local crab feasts in the area, this boil focuses on crawfish with blue crabs as an add-on. In line with their commitment to supporting sustainable fishing practices, they’ve partnered with Louisiana’s #1 supplier of live crawfish, Louisiana Crawfish Company, a family-owned and operated business. I was super excited, especially since this was my first time having crawfish.

In addition to the seafood, my friends and I enjoyed the delicious sides including Jalapeño Hushpuppies, Cheddar Biscuits, Dill Pickle Slaw, Crunchy Okra, and Macaroni Salad, as well as their seasonal dessert. They also offered bottomless sweet tea and lemonade. The atmosphere in the main room was warm and energetic as people dug in. We loved the refreshing dill pickle slaw especially; and the crowd favorite was a three-way tie between the okra, crawfish, and carrot cake dessert! A friend of mine in attendance loves crawfish and graciously offered lessons to the table. I’m happy to say that (after a few tries) I know how to open, and absolutely enjoy crawfish! I absolutely recommend enjoying this boil in a group, and saving room for dessert.

This seafood boil brings a great element of southern flare to the Hello Betty menu. Tickets are available on Eventbrite July 16th and August 20th! Don’t forget to grab a drink at their Boat Bar Patio!
