FAREWELL TO SUMMER ESCAPE

As we say goodbye to summer I couldn’t help but get in one last getaway before Fall. I didn’t want all the hassle of jumping on the road but still wanted to experience a vacay. I decided to escape locally and without all the stress of travel. You can too—simply jump on the staycation trend as I did with a relaxing experience at The Canopy by Hilton – Bethesda. You will thank me later for this recommendation because it’s absolutely amazing.

I decided to plan my local staycation a few weeks ago. Many asked, “what does a girl do on a solo staycation?”  I wanted to maximize this getaway time to journal and read so I made sure to pack my favorite books. My stay also involved a day of lounging, lots of cocktails from the bar, and exploring the neighborhood via two wheels. I’d be keeping it light if I said this was not the best experience I’ve had in a while. I simply took this time to recharge and catch up on all the relaxation needed.

Although the hotel provides everything you need making it easy to never leave your room, I took some time to explore the area. The hotel offers complimentary bicycles for your adventures. When was the last time you jumped on a bicycle? It had been a while for me and truly had me feeling like a kid again. I biked around the neighborhood discovering so many shops and soaking up the last days of summer to then immediately head back to my home away from home and fully relax.

The best part about this experience was learning you don’t have to go far to be fulfilled. What a great way to say farewell to long summer days and hello chilly fall nights!
