A recent addition to the Town Square, Eko House has brought a taste of West Africa to Rockville! I absolutely loved the decor and feel, as the restaurant was filled with pan-African art and music. There’s no lack of classic Nigerian flavors such as scotch bonnet, and I was happy to get my fix of suya! Prepare for the heat! (Beef Suya- $19.00, Jollof Rice-$7, Grilled Chicken Suya Wrap-$19)
If you’re looking for Japanese barbecue, Gyuzo is the place to be! Their focus is on imported beef, particularly A5 wagyu; a cut of Japanese cattle characterized by its high marbling, tenderness, and palatability. Their menu also features several prix fix BBQ Course Menus for 2-6 people, where you can taste a variety of side dishes, meats, and vegetables. Kumbia offers a tour of Latin and South America through its bright flavors, refreshing drinks, and unique menu items. In one afternoon we were able to get apps from Argentina, drinks from Brazil, and main dishes from Peru! Easily the most decorated stop on our list, the concept of Thai Chef is based on “Ngan Wat”- a Thai event where people would socialize while surrounded with ferris wheels, colorful lights and flags, and great food! This restaurant perfectly captures the essence of celebration and the food was no exception. With a variety of street food, Thai classics, and fun cocktails on the menu, a trip to Thai Chef in Rockville Town Square is nothing short of a party! El Mercat Bar de Tapas features shareable seasonal plates and an extensive drink menu that are perfect for happy hour. The flavors are vibrant and fresh, and also include larger classic plates like Paella. This spot offers a full tour of Spain that’s shareable with family and friends! Our last stop on this list boasts nearly 20 years of service in the square! Sushi Damo features Japanese food in a modern setting, with incredibly fresh sushi and intimate decor.
