HOW ABOUT THEM APPLES?

Being in the DMV makes fall outings so easy to plan and I am here to help you make the most of a perfect fall day. A day of apple picking is literally at the top of my bucket list every single year. Just a stone’s throw from the city are all the apple farms you need to explore. I made a trip out to Larriland Farm in Maryland but there are many orchards that allow a “pick your own” experience in the area. What I love most besides eating all the apples and I do mean eating all of them, is seeing the different varieties of apples each orchard has to offer.

Ever bite into a summerset apple?! It’s so juicy and delicious! Whether it be a warm sunny fall day or a cloudy cool day, the apple farm is the way to go! If looking for the perfect orchard to plan your fall outing check out these below.

It’s raining apples in my home so I had to do something special. I made an absolutely delicious baked apple crisp that only takes minutes to make. You will love it!

BAKED APPLE CRISP RECIPE

Ingredients :

  • Oats
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Butter
  • Pecans
  • Walnuts
  • Ice cream (your favorite flavor)

Directions: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and place in a deep baking dish. Set aside In a small bowl combine a cup of oats, ½ cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of nutmeg and salt. Mix well and layer in butter (1 stick melted)

Remove cores from apples using a paring knife or apple corer, right in the middle. Spread apples out in a dish. Divide the filling evenly into the apples (the more the better!) and sprinkle with sugar.
