OH MY GOURD, PUMPKINS!

We are all ready for fall! To get excited about the season, I typically start with a little home décor. This year, I wanted to do something more elevated and fun for a fall gathering. If you haven’t planned one, now is the time!

I took a quick trip to one of my favorite neighborhood place, Trader Joe’s and was immediately inspired to pull together a pumpkin tablescape!

Trader Joe’s has a huge variety of fantasy pumpkins and fall flowers. I had some fun pulling it all together! I also created a fun way for the kiddos to join in on the fall home décor.

STEP 1: Gather your supplies

  • Two medium/large pumpkins  (depending on table size)
  • 5-10 assorted mini pumpkins
  • One bunch of hydrangeas (or your favorite flower)
  • One bunch of eucalyptus
  • One bunch of fall flowers

STEP 2: Base layer

The first step of assembly –Set up your table runner. Next, lay out your eucalyptus with them pointing in opposite directions. You will need to spread out the stems for a pretty look.

STEP 3: Include the pumpkins- All large pumpkins should be placed in the center of the table directly on top of the eucalyptus. Make sure to put the smallest pumpkin in the front so it looks like it’s in a triangle formation. The key here is to gather them in an organic and natural-looking way. As you see space, add some of the mini pumpkins.

STEP4: FILL IN THE GAPS – cut your flowers to the desired length and fill in the open spaces. This makes the arrangement look full. Have some fun with it and add as many flowers as you like — the more the better!

STEP 5: Set your table and get ready for this centerpiece to be the talk of the party!

WE CAN’T FORGET THE KIDDOS

As we get ready for fall, kids can have some fun too, by creating mini succulent pumpkin planters. These are super easy to make and a cool way to get the kid’s creative juices flowing.

SUPPLIES :

  • MINI PUMPKINS
  • PARING KNIFE
  • SPOON
  • MARKERS OR PAINT
  • MINI SUCCULENTS OR PLANTS
  • POTTING SOIL
  • WATER FOR MISTING

STEP 1: Gather your materials

STEP 2. Carefully cut out the center of the pumpkin with a paring knife. Adult supervision recommended!

STEP 3. Scoop out the pumpkin seeds and set them on a paper towel to dry. These seeds can be used for roasting or save them for planting next year.

STEP 4. Add soil and place succulents inside neatly.

STEP 5. Lastly, add in a little paint, glitter, or keep it simple! I added in fun polka dots. The kids are going to love this!

Admire your new tablescape while enjoying the flavors of fall. Sur La Table has a yummy Spiced Pumpkin Loaf recipe that I’ll be making because we are loving everything pumpkin flavored.
